GMO Analysis on Lineseed (Flax) samples
Our laboratory is processing analysis to detect genetically modified organisms (GMO) in Lineseed / Flax. To ensure a wide range of GMO, we recommend our customers a tripple-Screening by checking the 35S CaMV Promotor, the NOS-Terminator and the NptII-Gene. That secures the detection of gm-Lineseed (Flax) Event FP 967, trading name „CDC Triffid“ and further more gm-lineseeds (in development - see i.e.: Ivana Melenova etal, Inst. Chem. Techn., ICT Prag) as well as other gentically modified plants.
The species detection of FP 967 Triffid is validated in our laboratory after the official detection method by the JRC (European Commission).
Cotton / textiles
Last week an article on GMO findings in organic cotton was reported in German Financial Times on 22nd January 2010. Under the banner of Label scandal is claimed, that German reteilers sold India sourced certified organic textiles "knowing that there were traces of GMO cotton in them". Our laboratory is testing since several years raw-cotton, yarn, textiles on genetic modifications (GM-cotton, GMO cotton). Samples were / are tested from Asia and Africa. Very important in this case is the way of isolating the DNA out of processed samples.
